Reflexology
Reflexology is a powerful form of therapy that readily and easily combines with other natural therapies. Its scope and range of uses are limitless.
Reflexology, although a relatively new therapy, is currently medically recognised in Denmark, South Africa and China, and is increasingly being accepted in United Kingdom and most parts of Europe, where Universities, such as Manchester University, are teaching Reflexology.
Reflexology, as a medical science, and as an art form, is expanding both in its theoretical and practical applications to natural therapies.
Benefits of Reflexology
Following illness, stress, injury or disease, the body is in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways, are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing. An increasing number of people are using this safe and natural alternative as a way of relaxing, balancing and harmonising the body through improved circulation and nerve supply, to the treating of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances.
Who can benefit from a Reflexology Treatment? Quite simply, everyone!
A Reflexology Treatment
All practitioners develop their own style but the basic approach should be the same.
In the initial consultation, the practitioner will require a detailed medical history. This ensures the correct approach to restoring, or maintaining, your good health can be planned.
There are a few conditions that preclude a Reflexology session, and the therapist will discuss this with you. Once it has been established that you are a suitable candidate, the therapist will ensure that you are comfortable to encourage relaxation before commencing Reflexology. Apart from taking off your shoes and socks, you leave the rest of your clothing on.
The practitioner will take into consideration the general texture, temperature and colour of the feet. After the visual examination, the practitioner will apply either lotion or massage oil to the feet and commence the session with methods to relax the feet.
After the session, you should feel relaxed and calm, and because of improved circulation you may feel warm and flushed.
